Before a child can understand the emotions of others or regulate their own emotions, there's a necessary prerequisite: the ability to recognize emotions - that is, to "notice how I feel right now." This ability is the core of emotional intelligence and forms the foundation for empathy and self-regulation.
Children today are increasingly exposed to digital environments and frequently encounter emoticons (emojis) in their daily lives. Therefore, developing the ability to express and understand emotions using emoticons has become very important. By visually connecting emotions through commonly used emojis and searching for words that match those emotions, children naturally expand their emotional vocabulary.
So, one thing we do a lot with kids these days is teaching them how to express emotions by using emojis together . It can be easily used as a matching card, and it's composed of Korean and English, so it seems like it can be used effectively even in a bilingual environment!
